When buying a new chandelier there a a few basic tips that will help you find the correct size and wattage for any room.
If the room is 10' by 10', or smaller a 15" to 24" diameter chandelier would be a good size.
For a 10, x 10' room you should have at aroun 400 watts of light for adequate lighting
If the room is 12' x 12', or smaller a 25" or 27" chandelier would be a good size.
For a 12' x 12' room you should have around 560 watts of light for adequate lighting
If the room is 14' x 14', choose a 24" to 38" chandelier would be a good size
For a 14' x 14" room you should have around 760 watts of light for adequate lighting
A chandelier should hang about 30" from the to top of the table. This will help form being bump or getting in the way
A chandelier should be about 12" smaller on all the sides of the table so it does not over power the design.
